Thomas Ruyant (FOR PEOPLE) has gone from the emotional high of setting a new 24 hours distance record yesterday to having a series of technical problems which have slowed him down and cost him places on the Retour à La Base.
Ruyant’s team report this morning that he has damage to his rudder system and a torn mainsail. A statement from TR Racing says, “In an involuntary gybe that followed (the rudder damage), the mainsail tore. A section of the starboard rudder up/down system went through part of the aft deck. Thomas has gone from "performing" to repairing, temporarily slowing down.”
