Monday is finishers’ day
Isabelle Joschke (MACSF) got the ball rolling this morning. She will be followed today by Romain Attanasio (Fortinet-Best Western), who had a nasty bump on his head last night, Pip Hare (Medallia) and Clarisse Crémer (L’Occitane en Provence) are due in the afternoon.
And so Monday starts with a smile, as the workers in Lorient get down to business, Isabelle Joschke returns a top 10 result. The feedback so far about this new race has been super positive from all areas, especially the skippers.
As of this morning there are still 23 skippers racing, Joschke has just finished and next in should be Romain Attanasio (Fortinet-Best Western). He will finish and go straight to the medical centre after he banged his head on a bulkhead during the night. “The race doctor Marine Rolland dealt with him immediately” explains Hubert Lemonnier, the race director. “She reports a potential concussion.”
Van Weynberg and Amedeo on hold
Pip Hare (Medallia), Clarisse Crémer (L’Occitane en Provence), Benjamin Ferré (Monnoyeur – Duo for a Job) and Alan Roura (Hublot) should also finish today. Finally, we should also witness the arrival of Thomas Ruyant (For People) who has been progressing at around fifteen kts in the last 24 hours. There are still eight skippers who have not yet crossed the Azores gate.
Belgian Denis Van Weynberg (D’Ieteren Group) is slow as he has no Code Zero, Fabrice Amedeo (Nexans - Art et Fenêtre) who has been plagued by communication problems since the start of the race but her has been able to get a connection which allowed him to download the weather files and build his strategy for the end of the race. And so his week has started better.
